Stretch Marks

What are stretch marks?

Stretch marks are long, narrow streaks, stripes or lines that develop on the skin. They often appear on:

  • Abdomen
  • Breasts
  • Hips
  • Buttocks
  • Thighs

What causes stretch marks?

Stretch marks occur due to tearing in the dermis because of sudden stretching of skin beyond the limits of its elasticity. Common causes are:

  • Pregnancy
  • Puberty
  • Rapid weight gain/loss
  • Prolonged steroid use

How to prevent stretch marks?

There are no clinically proven preventative measures for stretch marks, but keeping the skin healthy and hydrated, maintaining a healthy weight, and treating stretch marks as soon as they appear can help.

Treating stretch marks:

Stretch marks can be treated with a combination of:

  • scarLet RF
  • Plasma pen
  • GreenPeel
  • Medical microdermabrasions
  • Chemical peels

Stretch marks, like other surface level scars, are like dips and troughs on your skin’s surface. One of the best ways to get rid of the scars on the skin is to fill the scars with the body’s own water content, which is collagen.

ScarLet RF, a Fractional Radiofrequency device, uses derma needles coupled with radiofrequency to penetrate deep inside the skin (approximately 3mm), resulting in the formation of tiny channels. These channels create a pathway for your body’s own collagen (encouraged by the radiofrequency) to rise up to the skin’s surface and deposit itself within the stretch marks, giving the skin a smooth and seamless look and feel.

The quality, texture and smoothness of the skin and disappearance of the stretch marks improve with each treatment as more and more collagen gets deposited in those dips and troughs, making the stretch marks disappear over a period of time.

The key benefits of the treatment procedure are:

  • No pain
  • Minimal downtime
  • Great safety profile
  • Great results

FAQ’s

What kind of results can I expect?

Every client reports reduction in stretch marks as well as improvement in quality of skin, brightness, freshness, minimising of pores, etc., as more and more of the body’s own collagen is deposited into the surface layer of the skin.

How many sessions are required?

3 to 5 sessions spaced 2 weeks apart should provide significant results.

Is this procedure uncomfortable?

Scarlet-RF is very well received by most clients without any topical anesthesia. However, clients with more sensitive skin can apply a numbing cream to make it painless.

Other procedures are milder, but results are more gradual and generally less significant.

What should I expect after the treatment?

Immediately after the procedure, there will be a slight redness and you would feel your skin feeling a little hot and/or stretched.
